1. Unplug the Roku device from the outlet

Unplug the Roku device from the outlet, wait for one minute, and then plug it back in.

2. Check for Internet connection

Ensure that your Roku device is properly connected to the internet. You can test the connection by opening another app or visiting a website on your Roku device. Or

  1. Press on your remote’s Home button.
  2. Select the Settings menu.
  3. Open the Network section to check your Roku’s connection status.
  4. If it says you’re connected, use the Check Connection button to test the strength.

3. Reset the network connection

  1. Press Home icon on your Roku remote
  2. Scroll and select Settings
  3. Select Advanced system settings
  4. Select Network connection reset
  5. Select Reset connection

4. Have you reached your device limits?

The amount of devices that can stream Netflix simultaneously varies depending on your plan. The basic Netflix plan allows only one device to operate, but this number can go up to two devices for the standard plan, or four devices for the premium one. If you have reached device limit, ask others to stop watching. Or you can upgrade your account if you have one of the lower-end ones. How many people can watch Netflix at once?

5. Check for Roku updates

Make sure that your Roku device is running on the latest software update. To check for updates, go to Settings > System > Software Update > Check now.

6. Check for Netflix channel updates

  1. Press Home on your remote.
  2. Find Netflix on your channels and highlight it.
  3. Press the Star button.
  4. Select Check for updates.

7. Sign out of Netflix on Roku

To sign out of Netflix on a Roku device and then sign back in, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Netflix app on Roku.
  2. Scroll to Get Help from the left-side menu.
  3. Scroll to Sign out and press the OK button on your Roku remote.
  4. A screen appears asking if you are sure you want to sign out your Roku from your Netflix account, highlight the Yes button using TV remote, then press OK.
  5. Now sign back in to Netflix.

8. Restart your Roku device

Restarting your Roku device can often resolve any software glitches. To restart, go to Settings > System > System restart > Restart.

9. Uninstall/reinstall Netflix

To uninstall

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
  2. Find and open the Netflix channel.
  3. Press the Star button on your remote to open the options menu.
  4. Select the Remove channel option and confirm when prompted.

Then restart your Roku device(navigating to Settings System System restart Restart) and Add Netflix channel.

10. Factory reset the Roku

If none of the above steps work, you can Factory reset the Roku. Factory reset will clear all personal information and get your device back to a state ready for initial setup.

Go to Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Factory reset. Follow the on-screen instructions.
