Part 1. How to update from HBO Max to Max?

If you already have HBO Max installed, the app will automatically update to Max on select platforms, including Amazon, Cox, Roku, VIZIO TV, and Xfinity. Max is available at Play Store, App Store, and Apps. Subscribers can stream Max on the following mobile devices:

• Most Android phones and tablets (with Android OS 5.1 or later)
• Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch (with iOS 14 or later)
• Amazon Fire tablets (4th generation or later)

1. Sign in with Max/HBO Max account

If you already have a Max (or HBO Max) account with an email and password, logging in to Max on a phone or tablet is fairly easy.

1. Open Max, and choose Sign In.
2. Enter your Max or HBO Max account email and password, then choose Sign In.

If you get Max through a TV, internet, or wireless provider, you need to connect your provider account first.

1. Open Max, choose Sign in > Connect.
2. Choose the provider you get Max through.
3. On your provider’s sign-in screen, enter your provider account info and choose Sign In.
4. If prompted, complete the account form and choose Create Account.

Part 3. How to log in to HBO Max on your computer?

Max supports the following computers:

• Mac with macOS X 10.10 (Yosemite) or later
• Google Chromebooks with Chrome browser version 95 or later

You can stream Max at max.com. For the best experience, use one of the following browsers: the latest version of Chrome or Firefox, the latest version of Microsoft Edge, or Safari version 13 or later.

4. If prompted, complete the account form and choose Create Account.
   If you already have an account, enter your Max or HBO Max email address on the Create Your Account screen. Then, on the Account Found screen choose Verify Email Address.
5. Choose Start Streaming to start watching on Max.

Part 4. How do I activate HBO Max on my TV?

Users can also find the Max app or channel on the following Smart TVs and game consoles:

• Amazon Fire TV devices with Fire OS 5 or later
• Android TV devices with Android TV OS 5.1 or later
• Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD with tvOS 14 or later
• Cox Contour 2 and Contour Stream Player
• LG Smart TV with webOS 3.5 or later
• Roku TV and streaming players with Roku OS 11 or later

1. Sign in to Max/HBO Max account on TV

After Max is installed on your TV and if you already have a Max or HBO Max account, use one of the following three methods to log in.

Option 1. Scan QR Code

To use this method, you need to scan the QR code on your TV using your phone’s camera and then sign in on your phone. Here are the detailed steps:

On your TV device:

1. Open Max and choose Sign In.
2. Stay on the screen with the QR code.

On your phone or computer:

3. Do one of the following:
   • Scan the QR code on your TV with your phone’s camera.

   • On your phone or computer, go to max.com/signin. Then, enter the 6-character code from your TV. Code not working?
4. Enter your Max or HBO Max account email and password and choose Sign In.

Now you can go back to your TV, choose your profile, and start streaming.

Option 2. Link With Wi-Fi

Choose this option if your phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Please note that this option is not available on all TV devices.

On your phone or tablet:

1. Sign in to Max. Keep the Max app open and active.

On your TV device:

2. Open Max and choose Sign In.
3. Choose Link With Wi-Fi on the left.
4. Stay on the Link With Wi-Fi screen.

Now, on your phone or tablet:

5. Go to the Max app.
6. Choose Allow when asked if your TV can sign in to your Max account. You’ll be signed in on your TV.

Then you can go back to your TV, choose who’s watching and you’re ready to stream.

Option 3. Use Your Remote

Sign in on your TV using your TV remote. Here’s how:

1. Open Max on your TV and choose Sign In.
2. Choose Use Your Remote.
3. Enter your Max or HBO Max account email and password, and then choose Sign In.
4. Choose who’s watching and you’re ready to stream.

2. Activate Max on TV with a provider account

If you get Max through a TV, internet, or wireless provider, you need to connect your provider before signing in to Max on TV. Here’s how:

On your TV device:

1. Open Max and choose Connect Your Provider.

4. Choose the company you get Max through. If you’re using a computer, choose View All or search for your provider. 
5. On your provider’s sign-in screen, enter your provider account info and choose Sign In.
6. If prompted, complete the account form and choose Create Account.
   Already have an account? Enter your Max or HBO Max email address on the Create Your Account screen. Then, on the Account Found screen choose Verify Email Address.

Now you can go back to your TV, choose Start Streaming, and then who’s watching, and you’re ready to stream.
