Disney Plus and Hulu Price Increases in Fall 2023

In an effort to steer its streaming services toward profitability, Disney has announced to significantly raise prices for Disney+ and Hulu in the U.S., especially for the standalone premium plans of the two. Additionally, a competitively priced bundle of ad-free Disney+ and Hulu will be introduced. The price increase for the two platforms will take effect on Oct. 12, 2023.

For customers in the United States, this marks the second price increase for Disney+ Premium in under a year. The last price hike occurred in December 2022 when the ad-supported version launched, raising the monthly fee by three dollars. Additionally, the ad-free Hulu last saw a cost increase in October 2022.

Disney Plus Price Increase

• As of Oct. 12, Disney+ No Ads will experience a 27% surge, rising from $10.99 to $13.99 per month for U.S. customers.
• Disney+ With Ads will remain at $7.99 per month.

Internationally, Disney plans to introduce its ad-supported Disney+ subscriptions in Canada, the U.K., and eight other European countries including France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark from November 1st. The monthly rates for the ad-supported Disney+ plan will be $7.99 in Canada, £4.99 in the U.K., and €5.99 across European markets. Furthermore, Disney intends to raise ad-free Disney+ plans in these markets in December 2023.

Hulu Price Increase

• Hulu’s ad-free subscription will see a 20% price hike on Oct. 12, moving from $14.99 to $17.99 per month.
• The cost of Hulu’s ad-supported tiers will continue to be $7.99 per month.
• Hulu + Live TV with ads will be raised to $76.99 from the previous $69.99 per month. For the ad-free Hulu + Live TV package, the cost will increase to $89.99 from $82.99 per month. Each will go up by $7.

Disney Plus and Hulu Bundle Price Increase

• The bundle of the ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu (Duo Basic) will still be $9.99/month.
• Ahead of these price adjustments, Disney is introducing a new ad-free bundle of Disney+ and Hulu (Duo Premium) on September 6th for $19.99 per month, presenting a 37% discount when compared to the standalone subscriptions.
• From Oct. 12, Disney also will increase the price of its Trio Basic bundle of ad-supported Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ to $14.99 per month, an increase of $2 per month.
• The Trio Premium bundle of Disney+ (no ads), Hulu (no ads), and ESPN+ (with ads) will be raised to $24.99 from $19.99 per month.
