5 Ways to Watch Amazon Prime Video on TV

Streaming Prime Video from your PC or Mac may seem like a convenient solution to enjoy Amazon Prime Video on a larger screen, but the quality is limited to HD. Even dedicated PC apps can’t stream in UHD, although it’s possible on some Android devices. The ideal devices to stream video in UHD and 4K are smart TVs and streaming sticks like Amazon Fire TV.

1. With Amazon Prime Video app

The easiest way to watch Amazon Prime Video on a TV is simply to buy a new smart TV that has the Amazon Fire TV OS already installed. Currently, Toshiba and Insignia sell Amazon Fire TV Edition televisions. But you’re not limited to Fire TV-based smart TVs when it comes to watching Amazon Prime Video on your TV. Most smart TVs released in the last few years come with the Amazon Prime Video app pre-installed. Such as TVs from Samsung, Sony, LG, and smart TVs with the Roku OS installed. All you need to do is sign in with your Amazon account and you can start watching your favorite shows and movies. If the Prime Video app is not already pre-installed, it will certainly appear in the Featured Apps list or in any app store used by the TV.

  1. Make sure you SmartTV is connected to the Internet.
  2. Find the Prime Video app on your Smart TV or your streaming device. Simply navigate to the app and click on the icon.
  3. Sign in with your Amazon account. When you do, you should receive a code. Use a browser on your laptop or phone/tablet to visit PrimeVideo.com/mytv. Sign in and enter the code visible on your TV screen.

Amazon says their team is working hard to make sure that Prime Video come pre-installed on almost all smart TVs.

Cons:

  • Can’t download the videos to watch them offline.
  • Streaming quality depends on your internet strength.

2. With gaming console

The Prime Video app is available on all modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles, such as PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S. Just keep in mind that some of the older ones only support HD streaming. However, the PS4 Pro, PS5, Xbox One consoles and Xbox Series X/S support 4K. Here we will take PS5 as example.

  • Connect your PS5 to Wi-Fi.
  • Press the PS button on your PS5 controller and opt for Home.
  • Select Media tab and click the All Apps icon.
  • Search for the Amazon Prime Video.
  • Select Amazon Prime Video app and then Select “Download”.
  • Select Open and log in your account.
  • Now watch Amazon Prime Video on your TV.

3. Streaming players

If your TV isn’t “smart”, or your smart TV doesn’t support Amazon Prime Video for some reason, you can connect a stream media player to your TV to stream Amazon Prime Video. There are many streaming players available, and just like smart TVs, almost all of them can play Amazon Prime Video.

4. Cast to your TV

  1. Make sure that the Fire TV, Android TV, or Chromecast device is powered on and connected to the same network as your mobile device.
  2. Open the Prime Video app on your Android mobile device, iPhone, iPad, or Fire tablet. 
  3. Select the Cast icon on your Prime Video app.
  4. Select the device that you wish to use. 
  5. Play the video you want to cast.

Update: Since the last update, the Prime Video app no longer gives the option to cast to the television with any device other than Apple TV. No cast icon visible now.

Step 1. Run Pazu Amazon Prime Video Downloader.

Step 4. Click Download icon

Tap the download icon next to the movie or TV show you want to download.

If your selection is a movie, click icon next to it and the downloading begins.

If your selection is a TV show, click  icon next to it to select episodes you want to download.

Before downloading, you can also click to choose subtitles and audio tracks for each episode. Audio and subtitle languages in Settings only shows the 6 common languages. Here you can choose any language from whatever the movie or TV show provides.

Then click Download.

To find the content you’ve downloaded, click History icon on the top.

Now transfer the downloaded MP4 videos to your USB drive and watch them anywhere you want.
